Joe Biden is defending a policy imposed by former President Donald Trump that requires visa applicants of any type to report all of their social media accounts, even if they are not in their name.
However, some people consider this measure extreme since it will be required for tourist, business, and other types of visas.
In addition, the Biden administration affirmed that after several months of reviewing this policy, there will be no changes, and they will proceed with it. Some immigration attorneys consider it terrible.
Reportable accounts include social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and TikTok and should include all accounts used in the last five years. Also, it will be considered fraud if people do not disclose accounts that they use under pseudonyms.
However, Columbia University’s Knight First Amendment Institute has filed a lawsuit against this measure and will continue with it.
