K1 visas cases update: State Department recognizes them as a high priority

Effective August 28, US K1 visas in embassies and consulates in the world will be considered a high priority. As it is becoming safer to resume more consular operations, US posts are authorized by the Department of State to authorize new K1 visas.
If you are requesting a K1 visa, check with your consulate as soon as possible if you can submit your petition. If you have been waiting for your K1 visa interview, you should also email the embassy and try to get your appointment scheduled soon.
Also, the Department of State will be revalidating the K1 visas in four months increment without needing to file for a new petition. “The I-129F Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) is typically valid for four months; however, consular officers may revalidate the I-129F petition in four-month increments”, they said in their website.
For most cases impacted by the suspension of routine visa services or travel restrictions related to Covid-19, it will not be necessary to file a new petition. Nonetheless, we recommend contacting an immigration lawyer for more information about your case and what your next steps should be.
Kannan Law is ready to guide you through your K1 visa petition and to ensure that everything is for you or your fiancé(é) to immigrate to the United States. Contact us today for more information.
